When searching the domestic patent information, there are two types: one is to search by bibliographic items such as application numbers or classifications, the other is to search by subjects which is more complicated and requires professional searching or knowledge related to the patent.

KIPRIS has collected all the domestic intellectual property information since 1947, which has been providing searching information for domestic patents, utility models, designs, trademarks, trials, English abstract, and base as a representative service web site for patent information in Korea.
It is free for registering, accessing, searching and outputting,
but the "On-line/download" function is charged.
This service can be used for free from 19:00 to 09:00, and if you use the service for less than 20,000 won per month, it won't be charged, either.

Korea Patent Office provides service with which you can check the progress of your patent examination without any charge. You can access the Korea Patent Office's homepage or KIPRIS and click "Where's my patent (trademark)" and then search by the application number.


 
   
 
World's Patent Searching Service of WIPS
WIPS is an information providing company that comprehensively collects and organizes domestic and international intellectual property information and provides it with fee. In order to use the service, you have to access the WIPS' homepage and register for the membership. You can search for patents in Korea, the U.S., Japan (including PAJ), Europe (including PCT), INPADOC, and also for the original documents made prior to the online application in Japan. Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information provides patent information as well as science technology information for free. You can also search for the domestic patents, utility models, designs, and patents in the U.S., Japan, and Europe. A representative patent information searching web site that provides patent information searching service, made by the collaboration of IBM and Internet Capital Group (ICG). It started as a pay system since July 2001, and has provided its services. Free searching is available for the U.S. patents. Delphion Internet Searching Site has all the U.S. registered patents information since 1971 and it became possible to search for the original application documents in full-text since March 2001 up to now. Pay members can search for European patents (applied/registered), abstracts of Japanese patents, PCT, INPADOC and output the data. In case the amount of the original documents is huge, you can request them in the form of PDF file or ask for sending copies by mail

A representative U.S. patent searching web site made by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Patent information of the year of 1976 and after is available in full-text for free searching. U.S. patent materials of those applied but yet registered since March 15th, 2001 are also available.
